Special Olympics South Dakota

The Mission of Special Olympics South Dakota (SOSD) is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children (8 years and older) and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. SOSD takes the mission many steps further by providing free health screenings at our events thru the Healthy Athlete program. SOSD also is in it's biggest project in Unified Champion Schools...getting into schools and educating to all about acceptance and inclusion of those with disabilities!
