In the spirit of love and justice, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of San Mateo County (SVdP) provides person to person services of time, talent and resources to help our neighbors in need. Central to the ministry of SVdP is our commitment to preventing homelessness. Through 33 parish-based working groups called Conferences throughout all of San Mateo County, SVdP serves over 18,000 distinct individuals annually with rent, utility and food assistance and provides food, clothing and other basic survival necessities to the persistently unstably housed or homeless. SVdP also has two thrift stores in San Mateo County. SVdP's Restorative Justice Program works to bring healing, rehabilitation, and reconciliation to victims of crime, offenders, and their families. SVdP's Prison chaplain visits the detained in prison and local jails. SVdP's Catherine Center provides a residential rehabilitation program for women recently released from prison and advocates for systemic change.
