River City Food Bank

Created by the community for the community in 1968, River City Food Bank began as River City Community Services. River City Food Bank helps people avoid a downward spiral and work toward self-reliance by providing a short-term food supply when they are unable to meet basic living expenses. Clients who meet income guidelines receive a three-day emergency food supply up to once a month. In addition to food supplies, River City Food Bank is also a unique Sacramento food outreach program that provides nutritional counseling. Nutrition education programs help clients shop better by demonstrating the number of healthy meals they can create from the same few healthy food staples.
