New York City Rescue Mission

In 2017, New York City Rescue Mission became a controlled affiliate of The Bowery Mission, the nation's oldest rescue mission serving New Yorkers experiencing homelessness since the 1870s. Joining forces allowed two formerly independent rescue missions to make more efficient use of resources and provide an enhanced continuum of care. Amidst the challenges of COVID-19, New York City Rescue Mission's former campus at 90 Lafayette Street continues to serve as a hub for basic needs and emergency services. To ensure the safety of all, programs and services have been modified in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). In Fiscal Year 2020, more than 2,600 unique guests received hospitable accommodations and compassionate basic needs services at this campus. Nearly 114,600 meals and 60,400 nights of emergency overnight were provided over the course of the year.
