For over 100 years, the mission of Charity Newsies is "that no child should be kept out of school for lack of adequate clothing". Since its inception, our organization has helped more than 500,000 children. On average, we clothe over 13,000 children per school year, in the Franklin County, Ohio area. Lack of proper clothing is one of the top reasons why children from low-income families are absent from school. Wearing new clothes that fit properly help to build a child's self-esteem which improves the chances of succeeding at school. Eligible children are given the opportunity to receive brand new school clothing including a warm winter coat, knit hat and gloves, 3 shirts and 3 pairs of pants, and 6 pairs of socks and underwear.
